Who ARE all these dogs??

And just who ARE all these furry faces? Well, some of them are here to stay -- either intentionally or not -- and some were just passing through.

The problem with Greyhounds is that I find it impossible to foster them. They come here, they settle in, they stay. ;) That's just the way it is.

That big dark fellow with the houndy ears is Nitro (formerly CJ),  a Great Dane. We were able to help Great Creatures Rescue find resources to save him and get him to safety. He overnighted here and let me tell you -- that is one HUGE Great Dane! He is significantly underweight at around 110 pounds and 16 months old. He had this trick of slowly slowly standing up on his hind legs and gently placing his hands -- er, paws -- on my shoulders. He was just an enchanting fellow and we were thrilled to be able to help Bill and Jan Nugent at Great Creatures with his rescue.

The Greyhounds are permanent -- that's Amelia, the brindle with the short leg, and Puppy Puppy aka Bruiser aka Dennis, an oops pup from Crones Creatures Greyhound Rescue.

The Airedales are mostly transitory, sort of. The tripod little girl is Lucybelle, a senior surrender who seems to have settled in. Ever try placing an incontinent nine year old tripod Airedale? Well, if you're reading this, you probably have faced similar situations, and you know what happens. They end up staying.

The sort-of-dale fellow there is Gabriel, who looked very much like a purebred Airedale with bad ears in the photos from the shelter (and they SWORE he was purebred!) but who, in person, turns out to be a bit more houndy. He's a GREAT hound/Airedale mix with a wonderful personality. I keep telling him he is indeed a foster.

That panting Airedale is Sammy the Cinnamon Airedale, the foster most determined to drive me insane. Sammy could escape from anything. He'd climb fences, tunnel under logs, do just about anything to get to where he could spend more time with people. I've spent more time repairing pens from his work than anyone else's! Fortunately, Sammy found a WONDERFUL home and now even goes jetskiing with his forever people! But I thought he would drive me nuts before that happened.

In addition to our own pack, we normally have 2-3 fosters floating about. Some are long term, some only stay a few days.
